Wabi Sabi is a Japanese philosophy celebrating the natural and beautiful progression of age, impermanence, and imperfection in life. Everything in and on this earth will eventually transcend its original state and succumb to the inevitable life cycle of its kind. During the journey, some objects encounter more activity than others, some are well cared for and preserved, but time will eventually have its way with all things. The touch of time transforms and reshapes the reality of objects, creating a history that may or may not be known, but will forever alter their reality, inspiring tales that intrigue and titillate our curiosity. That's why old abandoned houses, barns, and castles spark interest and why antiques, old cars, feudal weapons, old toys, etc. have been the target of collectors for...well, forever.
I'm not sure where my fascination for old wood and metal began, but for as long as I can remember I've collected any found bits of metal and old, worn, unusually grained wood or knotted branches, knowing someday I would find another purpose for them. I am guilty of hiding several bags of found bits and bobs in my luggage when returning from a vacation and my car is littered with discovered treasures of my last hike. I love using these mementos in all my creations and sharing them with the world, knowing that their usefulness, nor attractiveness, has not been diminished but enhanced by age and wear.
Strength isn’t solely associated with youth, and can exemplify experience, wisdom, and endurance. My purpose for creating handcrafted, beautiful, one-of-a-kind home decor items is to recognize and pay homage to this concept. Frugal Posh, LTD products are simple, solid, and safe while simultaneously preserving our beautiful world by using worn, warm, and rich Wabi Sabi materials; blending experience and history into gorgeous treasures that will last another lifetime for you and your family.
